In 1976 John Biederman got his start in the wire and cable industry working for his father’s company Northern Wire & Cable.
John began his career as a warehouse employee and did everything from shipping and receiving, customer deliveries, operate cutting machines, operated dying and striping equipment, operated wire twisting machines and drove a forklift pulling orders.
In 1980 he transferred into sales for Northern in their corporate office in Troy Michigan.
His specialty was selling industrial wire and cable to electrical wholesalers, contractors and direct to original equipment manufacturers, automobile manufacturers, and pulp & paper industry.
After finding his passion in the sales side of the business with Northern Wire & Cable he began working in multiple branch location for them. You could find John conducting business all over the country from Las Vegas to Tampa. In 1993 John was promoted to director of purchasing. He managed a staff of seven employees and was responsible for managing a fifteen-million-dollar inventory for five branch locations. He had no plans on stopping there.
In 1996 the owners of Northern Wire and Cable sold the company and they were acquired by a Company out of Chicago, IL called Anicom Inc.
Six months after the acquisition the owners took the company public on the NASDC stock exchange. John’s performance earned him a promotion to Regional Vice President. This new position put him in charge of the largest sales region and of around 190 employees. In no time John was responsible for producing 65 million dollars in sales.
After working at Northern Wire & Cable for 22 years, In 1998 John left the company and took 12 months off just to wait out his non-compete contract. 3 days after the non-compete ended, he launched a brand-new company. Technology Wire and Cable was born.
Outside of Technology Wire and Cable, you’ll find John hunting, fishing, boating, golfing, and, if the weather is nice, riding his Harley Davidson Road Glide.
